1. How do I know if my AC needs cleaning or servicing?
If you notice reduced cooling performance, unusual noises, musty odours, or visible dirt on vents, it's likely time for a service. Regular maintenance is recommended at leasttwicea year to keep your system running efficiently and prevent breakdowns.
2. Where is my water tank?
In most Dubai villas, water tanks are typically located on the rooftop, underground near the front or side of the property, or above ground in the back garden or side passage. If you're unsure, our team can locate and assess your water tank during your service visit.
3. Why is my water so hot in the summer time?
During Dubai’s extreme summer weather, water pipes and storage tanks are exposed to high outdoor temperatures, causing cold water lines to heat up. The water stored in rooftop or outdoor tanks can reach high temperatures during summer months, making the cold tap feel warm or even hot.
4. My AC smells what should I do about it?
Bad smells from AC systems can often indicate a build-up of dust, mould, or bacteria inside the AC system or ductwork. We recommend scheduling a full AC service, Duct Cleaning or our Ultimate Clean package to thoroughly clean the system.
5. How many times a year should I clean my water tank?
Dubai Municipality recommends water tank cleaning at least once per year. In some cases, more frequent cleaning may be advised depending on water usage, tank condition, and hygiene requirements.
6. My water pressure is really low, can I improve it?
Firstly, consult with a professional company to look over the system as there may be several reasons for low water pressure before assuming a new/bigger water pump is needed.
7. Why do my AC units constantly leak water?
Water leaks are usually caused by blocked drainpans/lines, dirty filters, or poor system maintenance.Drain pans often get blocked by abuild upof dirt on the internal evaporator coil, this drops into the drain pan and in turn blocks the drain line causing the unit to overflow and leak. Regular servicing helps prevent leaks by keeping drains clear and ensuring the system operates correctly.
8. Should I be topping up the gas in my AC systems?
No — AC systems are sealed units and should not require regular gas top-ups. Low gas levels usually indicate a leak that must be identified and properly repaired. At Expat Group, we can carry out professional pressure testing to accurately locate and resolve leaks.
9. How often should I service and clean my AC units?
Due to the year-round demand in Dubai’s climate, we recommend servicing your AC system at least twice a year — typically before and after the peak summer season. Regular servicing helps maintain efficiency, prevent breakdowns, and extend the life of your system.
10. Will a Villa filter system make my water drinkable?
Our villa filtration system improves water quality by removing sediment, chlorine, and impurities throughout your home. However, it is not designed to produce fully potable drinking water. For safe drinking water from the kitchen tap, we recommend installing our under-sink drinking water filter, or Quooker Tap system which comes complete with a High Flow filter.
